Hey hey! Readers of my blog I have brought to you not one, but two fabulous unboxings.

I have delibrately delayed these two boxes so I can come and give you more of a review than an unboxing, think of me as fashionably late.

‎أهلًا بكم قراء مدونتي! اليوم جبت لكم مو بس صندوق واحد ، صندوقين من صناديق ارت بوكس. 

‎تأخيري لهم كان مقصود حيث إني أخذت الوقت إني أجرب الأدوات عشان أجيكم بمراجعة بسيطة مع فتح الصندوق.  

For those who are new here, Artbox is a saudi made and based subscription service that delivers new art supplies every month. And with a theme!

للجداد هنا، آرت بوكس (الصندوق الفني) هي خدمة اشتراك سعودية تهدف إنها تجيب لكم صندوق كل شهر فيه أدوات جديدة بموضوع جديد. 

 

July's box is the anime box, though I haven't gotten much of that vibe from it.

موضوع شهر جولاي هو الانمي، بس ما حسيته مرة انمي. 

 

The thing that struck me as anime the most is this little sculpture, it feels very nostalgic, and also very familiar. If anybody knows who this is, or if I'm delusional and its just a random anime figure let me know. Its cute either way.

أكثر شي كان واضح إنه انمي هو ذا المجسم الصغير. حسيت بحنين شوي لأيام سبيستون لما شفته، بس بعد يذكرني (تذكري بالاحرى) بأحد. لو أحد يعرف مين ذي علموني، حتى لو بس تقولون لي إنه مجسم انمي بلا اسم. كيوت بكلا الحالتين. 

 

Next comes this acrylic spray, I gathered from instagram that different subscribers got different colors, I got the yellow one. I'm so glad its the yellow one. Its amazing! It works best the lighter the background is, and does work on paper as well as canvas. But I did feel the color to be stronger on paper. 

بعدها يجي بخاخ الاكريلك، اعرف إنه كل مشترك جاه لون مختلف في الصندوق. أنا جاني الاصفر ومرة انبسطت فيه. مرة حلو! فعال أكثر على السطح الفاتح، يعني الأبيض بيعطيكم أفضل نتيجة ، وعلى الورق أو الكانفس بس حسيت اللون أقوى على الورق. 

 

This gold marker (its from Roco if you're wondering) is another addition to the anime box. I love metallic touches in artwork, it really changes the whole thing. And I find metallic markers to be arguably the most.. Powerful, for lack of better word, way to add a metallic touch. Arguably because one might argue that gold leaf is much more powerful, and I do agree. But its too delicate and feasible for me, however I am interested in experimenting more with it. 

I prefer my sharpie one more because I like round tips, yet with this one I can be more precise because of the angle in the chiseled tip (dummy me only just realised the usefulness of it when I played around with this gold marker) 

ومن أدوات هذا الصندوق هو الماركر الذهبي هذا (من ماركة روكو). أحب اللمسات الميتالك أو المعدنية في الاعمال الفنية، مرة تغير العمل الفني وتعطيه لمسة جميلة. والماركر من الطرق البارزة والقوية في إضافة  ذي اللمسة، جنب ورق الذهب. لكن ورق الذهب رقيق ويحتاج له تركيز، وهذا ما خوفني منه بس حبيت اذكر هالنقطة لبيان سهولة استعمال الماركر. ان شاء الله اجرب ورق الذهب في المستقبل القريب، وحاليًا اقولكم الماركرز الميتالك /معدنية تجنن. 

احب حقي الي من ماركة شاربي لأني أحب الطرف المدور أكثر من المشطوف، لكن تبين لي دقة الاطراف المشطوفة وبديت اقدرها يوم بديت استعمل هالقلم. 

 

A sharpie comes next in the contents of this box, now if you do not own a black sharpie I highly suggest you do. You don't know how useful it is until you own one. It is an artistic aid as well as a practical one. 

I mean, do I really need to elaborate on a sharpie?

وحديثًا عن الشاربي، الشاربي الاسود كان من محتويات الصندوق. الي ما عنده واحد مرة انصحه بواحد، يفك ازمة ما تحسون بقيمته لين ما يصير عندكم. فنيًا وعمليًا مفيد. 

يعني المعروف لا يعرف المفروض، ولا؟

 

Another tool in here is a charcoal pen, this Marie brand is really great with their charcoal. This is amazing + I have a set of charcoal pens which are too amazing. I know amazing isn't much of an artistic indication when it comes to tools, but I check all the boxes when I use Marie for charcoal. Opaque, smooth, and blendable.

اداة ثانية بالصندوق هي قلم الفحم من ماركة ماري. ماركة ماري جربت لهم أقلام فحم ثانية بعد وكلهم حلوين. أحب جودة فحمهم في أقلامهم. يعني واضح وسلس وناعم ويدمج بسهولة.

 

 Speaking of blendable, this final tool aids in that. I do not know what to call it but I think its called a smudger. I love it! I am always a messy smudger because I use my fingers, this gives me more precision (this and q-tips, yet this is cleaner). I wasn't bothered by the size, I actually found it to be good.

وآخر عبارة تنقلني إلى أداة الدمج هذه.  شكلها مألوف صح؟ إلي يرسمون بالفحم أو الرصاص كثير يمكن أكثر ناس يعرفونها. مدري وش اسمها الصراحة بس أحبها لأنها صدق ساعدت دمجي يكون أدق  (كنت ادمج باصابعي ويصير حوسة). والمقاس كويس عادي ما ضايقني.

 

Finally, we can't forget the subscription sticker featuring the talented @bamzamil. 

وفي ختام فتح هذا الصندوق، مو يجنن الستكر؟ الفنانة بسمة رسمته ، هذا حسابها. 

Now the next box, this one started as a deliberate delay. But I got so intimidated that I never did test out the contents.

الصندوق الثاني كان المفروض يصير تأخير معذور، بس توترت ولا سويت شي. 

If anybody knows me, they know stationary is a love of mine. Particularly, "old stationary" or vintage for better sense of the word. Dip pens and wax seals among others.

أغلب إلي يعرفوني يعرفون حبي للقرطاسية. وعندي حب مخصص للقرطاسية القديمة ، بشكل أدوات الرسم والكتابة القديمة. الختم الشمعي والقلم الي ينغط في الحبر بدال ما يكون تعبى حبر. 

 

This box is my favourite because of that inclusion. 

I think this box's theme is inking? Or maybe calligraphy..

هذا أحلى صندوق من آرت بوكس لأنه لامس حبي للقديم. اتوقع موضوع هالصندوق التحبير. أو يمكن يكون الخط. 

Anyways lets start.

على العموم، بسم الله نبدأ. 

 

First off, we have the ink bottle. The packaging is amazing, I haven't opened it or seen inside yet but it seems to be one of high quality. Also as one who is learning graphic design and is interested in the field, these little things matter. 

Lets hope it doesn't disappoint.

أول أداة في الصندوق هي علبة الحبر هذه. ما فتحتها عشان اشوفها من جوا بس من برا التعليب يسطل. وباين عليه جودته. بس لأن وحدة قاعدة تتعلم التصميم الجرافيكي صايرة تهمني هالتفاصيل. 

وإن شاء الله ما يخيب أملي .

 

Second is this piece of parchment. Is parchment the correct word? I hope so, if not please correct me.

I will muster the courage to create art on it, but the thought that I might ruin kind of scares me. 

Its so beautiful and feels so nice! Although it feels sort of weak, that if I bend it a bit a piece might snap off. Its not criticism I just noticed it. 

بعدها في هذه الورقة القديمة. مرة خفت أخربها بس مع انكتوبر باتحدى نفسي واستجمع قواي وارسم عليها . مرة ملمسها حلو ومنظرها حلو، بس ضعيفة احسها مع ميلة وحدة جزء ينكسر. مب عيب هذا بس ملاحظة. 

 

Third is this blue eraser. It doesn't feel like the clay-like art eraser, because at first glance I thought it might be. It does seem like a good eraser though, and what artist says no to another eraser?

وأداة ثانية في الصندوق هي المساحة (المحاية) الزرقاء هذه. أول ما شفتها احسبها المساحة الي كأنها صلصال ذيك، بس طلعت مساحة عادية. لكنه شكلها مساحة كويسة، وما اعتقد فيها فنان يقول لا للمساحات مهما كان عنده ولا؟

 

Now I am saving the best for last. Part one of that is this black handle, but what use does a black handle have in a calligraphy/inking box?

وخليت أحلى شي آخر شي، الي تشوفونه بالصورة هي عصا سودة. ممكن قاعدين تسألون نفسكم "سارة من جدك؟" ، صدق وش دخل العصا السودة في صندوق حبر/خط. 

Part two is the answer. 

والإجابة هي..

 

And that manifests in these magnificent nibs (I do not know what's the difference, help). Yes, my friends. Its the dip pen! I was over the moon when I saw them. My excitement is indescribable. I truly am ecstatic.

However because I cherished this box so much I  feared I might use it wrong or ruin the tools, which completely defies the purpose of this box. 

But I am going to take Inktober as a chance to challenge myself with these new tools. 

 

رؤوس القلم هذه! قرائي هذا هو القلم الي ينغط في الحبر. الحين انا ما اعرف الفرق بين كل الرأس فيمكن مع التجربة يبان. ما تتخيلون كمية حماسي لما فتحت الصندوق وشفته، والحين مع انكتوبر باخذها كفرصة اجربه فيها.

احسن قدرت هالصندوق مرة وحبيته لدرجة إني خفت أخربه، وهذا عارض هدف الصندوق تمامًا (بدال ما يمكنني ، عرقلني. بس مو المشكلة في الصندوق، المشكلة في تفكيري تجاهه).

وعشان ارجع نفسي على المسار قررت أخذ انكتوبر كفرصة العب فيها بالحبر.
