Hello and welcome to another installment of my tardy unboxings and hopeful wishes to a future one on time, well this one should've been uploaded ahead of time considering how excited I am for it (I received it on time, I was just expressing my excitement). 

Anyways, shall we begin?

أهلا بجزء آخر من سلسلة فتحي للصناديق متأخر وأمنياتي ليوم أفتح واحد منهم فيها بوقته، للمدونة. هذا بالذات من حماسي له المفروض فتحته قبل وقتها رغم إنه وصلني بوقته زيكم. 

المهم بسم الله وخلنا نبدأ.

As always, for anybody new, ArtBox is a saudi subscription service dedicated to delivering a new set of art products for you to try every month. You can find on more on their website or their instagram

كالعادة ، للقراء الجدد، آرت بوكس (الصندوق الفني) هي خدمة اشتراك سعودية تعنى بتوصيل أدوات فنية جديدة كل شهر لكم عشان تجربونها. تعرفوا على معلومات أكثر من خلال موقعهم أو حساب الانستجرام حقهم.

 

As I mentioned in the previous post, every box has a theme that connects the products, this month's theme is stamping or, in better terms, printmaking. Which if you read my process post for March's box you'd know it was something I was trying to make, and thanks to Artbox now I have been provided with the proper tools to do so. 

But I still felt, and feel, quite confused looking at the materials. I might have an idea of what each one is but no names. It'll take a bit of experimenting to get to know each of the tools provided, yet I'll try to make it work despite my unfamiliarity.

زي ما ذكرت في تدوينة آرت بوكس إلي فاتت، كل صندوق له موضوع يربط الأدوات، وموضوع هالصندوق هو صناعة الختم أو الطباعة. وإذا قرأتوا تدوينة تجاربي مع صندوق مارس بتعرفون إنه شي كنت أحاول "اصنعه" بس فشلت، وهو شي شادني وتزال فيني الرغبة إني أجرب في مجاله. ولكم الشكر يا آرت بوكس بتزويدي بالأدوات. بس أحس إني حايسة لما أناظرهم، عندي أفكار بسيطة عن كل أداة متوفرة في الصندوق بس الأسامي مو موجودة أبد. لازم شوي أجرب واتعرف على الأدوات ، لكني رغم ذلك بحاول أعطيكم أفكار عنهم.

 

 

Let's start with the easiest bit, the wooden blocks. They're supposed to be bases for the stamps you'll make. They're smooth yet not slippery, which is nice and quite convenient considering you're making a stamp. In regards to their size I don't think its fair to critique and say why they have included small sized bases, but you can say why they're the only bases. I love both small and big stamps but I would've loved to see a bigger option, unless...

بسم الله ونبدأ بأسهلهم، المكعبات الخشبية. هم المفروض يكونون أساسات لأختامكم. ناعمة ولا تزلق وهذا شي حلو مرة لأنكم بتسوون ختم ولا تبونه يحوس. وأدري إنها صغيرة بس ما أحسه عيب لأنه مسألة ذوق إذا تبون الختم كبير ولا صغير. رغم فرحتي بهم إلا إنه كان ودي أشوف اختيار لأساس ختم كبير. إلا لو.. 

 

This is the bigger option? I think it is in a different form, which is all the better. The wooden blocks are used as bases for stamps while this one is to be carved and used to make prints. This is called a Lino printing block , as I have asked Artbox about it. 

هذا هو الاختيار الأكبر؟ بس بشكل ثاني. المكعبات كانت تعتبر أساس لشكل الختم إلي بينحط عليها، أما هذا فمكعب ينحفر عليه الطبعة إلي تبونها. حددت اسم المكعب في الكلام الإنجليزي (للي مستغرب شلون عرفتها وأنا قلت إنه كله غريب علي، الله يعافيهم آرت بوكس ما قصروا يوم سألتهم) 

 

Another Lino (which short for Linoleum) printing tool included here is the Lino paper, which I referred to as a rubber sheet until I knew its name. Anyways this is what your presumed stamp will be made out of, the one which the wooden block is a base for. You cut the shape you want from this sheet, and use the wooden block as a base, then stamp away.

أداة لينو (وهي اختصار لكلمة لينوليوم) للطباعة هي ورق لينو. إلي أنا كنت اسميه مطاط لين ما عرفت وش هو. وهو مادة الختم إلي بتصنعونه. يعني تقصون منه شكل الختم إلي تبونه وتستعملون المكعبات كأساس، بعدها تختمون على كل الي يجي في طريقكم هههه. 

 

Next comes this synthetic hair paintbrush, I love the size of this one and the orange haired synthetic ones usually hold on pretty well with paint, ink, and fluids in general. in addition to that it has a fairly long shelf life with washing after use, it feels like a mini wall paint or wood paint brush, you know the one you use for house DIYs?

بعدها تجي هالفرشة اللطيفة، فرش الشعر البرتقالي (الشعر الصناعي) أحبهم مرة لأنهم يستحملون أكثر من نوع من الألوان والأحبار والسوائل، ويعيشون معكم لو غسلتوهم بعد كل استعمال. شكلها يذكرني بفرش إلي يستعملونها لألوان الجدران أو صبغ الخشب، عرفتوها؟ حقات أعمال البيت؟ بس حجم ذي حبيته، يناسب الأدوات.

 
And the final tool here is this, I do not know what to call it but I do know its for carving your shape into the Lino block and paper. I have always wanted this to make whatever printmaking project I'll have easier. I have always fantasized about making a stamp so that's the main reason but I was inspired to explore more in printmaking with this box, thank you Artbox!

وآخر أداة هي ذي، مدري وش اسمها بس أعرف وش تسوي، هي وظيفتها إنها تساعدكم تحفرون الشكل إلي تبونه في أدوات اللينوليوم عشان يطلع معكم الختم أو الطبعة إلي تبونها. كنت دايم أفكر اشتري شي زي كذا لأنه دايم كان في بالي أسوي ختم ، والحين ألهمني هالبوكس إني أجرب في مجال الطباعة بعد. شكرًا آرت بوكس !

 
Since this box was shipped out in Ramadan, ArtBox not only included a cute crescent moon on the box itself, but added this adorable lantern keychain in the box. Such an adorable trinket that resides next to my mini canvas on top of my drawers 

ولأنه هالصندوق طلع في فترة رمضان ، آرت بوكس مو بس حطوا الهلال الجميل على صندوقهم، أضافوا سلسلة مفتاح رمضانية وهي فانوس رمضاني كيوووت. يعيش هالشي اللطيف جنب كانفسي الصغير فوق دروجس

The best part about this box, which I have posted about on my art account on instagram but not extensively, is this..

I loved seeing all the pictures you tagged me in, and I feel so honored and blessed to have had a spot in this amazing project. So shameful that I have delayed this post, I can't begin to express that, but I have to talk about it and it is still relevant for me as it has been a month ago. حبيت صوركم إلي سويتوا لي تاق فيها بانستجرام، مرة حبيت إني أشوفها. ما أقول إلا الحمد لله على ذي الفرصة الرائعة في مشروع أروع. أحس بإحراج شوي على تأخير هالتدوينة بس لازم أحكي عنه! شرف ونعمة إني أكون اشتغلت مع مشروع أحبه. حماسي ما تتخيلونه وأنا بس اتذكره واكتب عنه!
سووا لي تاق في صور زيادة، أحب أشوف الناس مع فني وردودهم وتعاملهم معه يعني بشكل عام يحمسني.

The little drawing you see on the sticker if you're wonder is of an arts and crafts desk, of course with a Ramadan theme as the main doodle is a lantern and if you look closely you'll find dates, coffee, and more Ramadan-ish things in this piece. I hope you all liked it :) 

 

الرسمة ذي هي لمكتب أعمال ورقية يدوية، بلمسة رمضانية. يعني وحدة من الرسمات الصغيرة في الرسمة ذي هي لفانوس رمضاني، وبعد فيه تمر وقهوة وأشياء رمضانية صغيرة ثانية في نفس الرسمة. إن شاء الله عجبتكم. 

 

And this concludes another ArtBox, this box is extremely new to me in terms of the medium featured. I do not know where to start but I'll surely figure it out.
